Apple has opened preorders for HomeView, a 7-inch smart display and speaker priced at $299. It is meant to be a central access point for a household: up to six family members can use it to control Apple's ecosystem of devices and apps.
Users can speak to it to operate smart home devices, such as closing blinds or activating locks, and it can show up to nine video feeds at once. It works with Siri's generative AI chatbot, which is still in beta.
