Restoring forests by hand is slow and labour intensive over large or difficult terrain. Drones assist by surveying land, mapping where to plant, and in some projects firing seed pods into the ground, covering wide areas far faster than planting crews on foot.
The appeal is speed and reach, letting restoration scale up and access steep or remote ground safely. Success depends on the right seeds, soil and follow-up care, and not every seed takes, so drones are one tool within a wider effort that still needs ecological know-how and monitoring, rather than a complete solution on their own.
