Teleoperation means a person controlling a robot from a distance. Adding haptic feedback lets the operator feel what the robot touches, sensing resistance and texture, which makes delicate remote tasks, such as handling hazardous materials or assisting a procedure, far more precise.
Feeling the work, not just seeing it, helps an operator apply the right force and avoid damage, extending human skill into places too dangerous or distant to enter. The feedback must be fast and faithful, and any delay in the link undermines it, so the technology is demanding, but it is a powerful way to combine human judgement with a robot's reach.
