Quantum X Labs announced a quantum-native cybersecurity architecture built in three layers: detection, encryption and verification. The design is aimed at a future in which powerful quantum computers could break some of the encryption that protects data today, and it belongs to a growing 'quantum-safe' security field.
The threat is not immediate, but it is taken seriously because data stolen now can be stored and decrypted later once the hardware exists, a risk sometimes called 'harvest now, decrypt later'.
What it means: encryption standards are beginning a slow, industry-wide upgrade. Most businesses do not need to act today, but it is worth knowing that the security assumptions underneath online banking, messaging and commerce are being rebuilt for the decade ahead.
