Researchers have shown a way to control where 2D semiconductor crystals begin growing, which could help overcome an obstacle to manufacturing next-generation chips at scale. The study was published in Nature on October 7 by a team including KAIST and the South Korean startup TDS Innovation.
The technique uses an etching flux to suppress new crystals everywhere in a patterned region except at its geometric centre.
